King Diamond and Jess & The Ancient Ones – Worcester MA

King Diamond was back and stronger than as ever! As he performed to the sold out crowd at the Palladium in Worcester MA.

He kicked off the night with “The Candle.” jumping into “Sleepless Nights” and “Welcome Home” when Grandma joined him on stage.

King’s vocals were spot on and his band was tight as ever!!! The show was packed full of magical illusions and an extravagant stage set that added to the atmosphere of the show! “The Puppet Master” was a spectacular performance. “Come To The Sabbath” was killer!  “Eye of the Witch” and “Cremation” also amazing! Over all it was one show that any King Diamond (or metal music fan) should not miss!!!

It was great to see King Diamond back in the spotlight. It’s been nearly a decade since King Diamond has toured the United States.

King Diamond looks to release a 2xCD collection titled “Dreams of Horror” in Nov 11, 2014 via Metal Blade Records. It’s a “best of Album” that include 23 newly enhance songs by King Diamond and Andy LaRocque. The songs will be from both the Roadrunner and Metal Blade Records catalogs.

Special edition vinyls have also been released throughout 2014 including “Them” “Abigail” “The Eye” “Fatal Portrait” and “The Pupet Master”. Watch for “Conspiracy” and “In Concert” vinyls scheduled for a Jan 2015 release.

And while King Diamond has talked about writing his next album, fan anxiously await the news of when they will be going into the studio to record.

Be Sure to check out the photo gallery of the show below.

Opening the night was Jess and The Ancient Ones – hand picked by King Diamond himself for the tour.

From Kuopio, Finland – the seven piece band makes their way across North America. They had a tight sound as they kinda remind me of The Devil’s Blood. Maybe it’s the female fronted occult rocker vibe?  They have almost a 70’s Psychedelic Rock sound to them.

Fronted by Jess, her Ancient Ones are :Thomas Corpse – Lead guitar, Thomas Fiend – Lead guitar & backing vocals, Von Stroh – Rhythm guitar, Fast Jake – Bass guitar, Abraham – Keyboard and Yussuf – Drums & percussion.

Jess and The Ancient Ones were a different sounding – they were a fun way to warm up a crowd that was hungry to see the main attraction. They are out in support of their self titled LP and 6 song EP “Astral Sabbat.”
