95x Fest – where Rock met Wrestling at its finest!!

It’s that annual time of the year where The Papermill Island to explodes with excitement and rock, as it once again host the 95x Fest in Baldwinsville NY. This year’s 95x Fest festival was kicked up a notch and it combined Rock bands with the wrestler of the 2CW!

National bands that performed at this year’s 95x Fest were Adelitas Way, Smile Empty Soul, Otherwise, Nothing More, UME and Edisun. And opening the show were several local bands – Cry to the Blind, How to Disappear Completely and Jeremiah’s Razor.

The highlights of the days’ Rock Performance – Nothing More stood out the most to me. They came out with great, high energy. They really engage the crowd and not to mention the fun, no so traditional drum/bass solo.

The band created their own metal sculpture/structure from upcycle metal scraps, creating and atmosphere that brings excitement to the stage. This is a band that you will want to watch out for as it feels like they are on the edge of big things. They will be back in the area in August – headlining and in September as the opening band on the Five Finger Death Punch/Volbeat tour (with Hellyeah in direct support).

UME (pronounced OOO-MAY) was also another band that stood out. This was the first I had heard or seen them. Vocalist – Lauren Larson is an animal on stage, giving a very fun, energetic performance. They have crushing riffs with sweet vocals, endearing a great rock show!

And onto the Wrestling…. The 2CW wrestling ring was set up in the back, near the island point. It was very entertaining and different to watch inbetween the bands on the main stage. I’ve only seen wrestling on TV, live the matches are definitely faster than I anticipated and more intense. The Full Wrestling Card included ECW ORGINAL – SABU, Former WWE Superstar – Colin Delaney, 2CW Tag Team Champion – Captain Nick Ando, 2CW Tag Team Champion – Pun & Graham, Cheech, Bin Hamin, Juggernaut Jason Axe, Dalton Castle, J. Freddie and Isys Ephex.

I love how this radio show is really geared for the whole family to come out and rock! You don’t always get that diverse aged crowd – especially the small children (3-4yrs olds) who seemed to have a very safe environment. This year’s addition of the wrestling just made the day that more fun for the whole family.
