Kayo Dot – Syracuse NY

Kayo Dot kicked off their fall US Tour, playing an intimate show at the vintage music store, Gorham Brothers Music Store in downtown Syracuse NY.

The store on the hill had the perfect setting. The smaller stage had windows behind that overlooked the city, the vintage instruments on the walls, and Kayo Dot performing their avant-garde style metal that transmits its own atmosphere and mood to any music hall! Kayo Dot’s unique style blends many different musical
elements. On facebook, they are listed as “an avant-goth, progressive experimental doom, abstract electroacoustic black modern compositional metallic band based in Brooklyn NY.”

While it’s impossible to pinpoint just one musical style of Kayo Dot, one thing is certain, their music is always in motion, flowing like a river, and never the same song twice. Their newest album, “Plastic House on Base of Sky” incorporates vintage electronic keyboards, that open up the mouth of the river and flows once again in a new direction, kind of giving them a Cure feel. The best way to get a feel of their music is to experience them yourself. Check out their song “Magnetism”, to the left:

Kayo Dot has continued on their tour and will be back in New York State on November 4, at Trans-Pecos in NYC. See remaining tour dates listed below.
