ROB ZOMBIE, GODSMACK – Binghamton NY

Rob Zombie and Godsmack teamed up for an epic night of Rock at the Floyd L Maines Arena in Binghamton NY!

Opening up the night was VJ Ginger Fish.  It was a great way to start out a night!! Ginger was getting the crowd pumped, spinning metal and rock tunes while dancing around stage. He has a lot of energy, running back and forth across the stage, dancing with his dreadlocks in the air and a white mask to cover his face.Ginger was doubt duty that night as he is also Rob Zombie’s drummer. You may also remember Ginger from playing drums in Marilyn Manson (1995-2011). To find out more about Ginger’s Disco Death Rock – visit: vjgingerfish.com

Ginger had to run quick from front stage to behind his drums as Rob Zombie would be first of the co-headliners to take the stage! Man, do these guys know how to rock! Musically, they are spot on! Their horror rock show is packed full of fun!

While Rob shows have been scaled back in it’s production of monstrous robots on stage, this set up is much easier to focus more on the music and not be overwhelmed of what’s going on.

The guys still come out in outrageously cool outfits, with instruments that are all kinds of unique and extraordinary. For instance, one of John 5’s guitars has a light-up LCD screen playing cartoons, then he would switch to his guitar that is illuminated with several led lights that could be seen in the back of the arena. Piggy D has several different bass guitars that you can’t help but take notice. From a Frankenstein guitar with glowing red eyes, to an giant wood inverted cross bass with a sharp pointed spear at the end – you won’t be messing with that “teenage dracula” anytime soon! And you can’t forget about Rob’s rolling skeleton Microphone setup that he brings out during the second half of their set. No, there are no large robots/monsters or giant screens playing the Munsters, but there is still an incredible amount of showmanship going on during a Rob Zombie show! And you can’t forget about the crowd-interaction. Where Rob takes out his giant spotlight, he going out into and around the arena to see his fan up close and personal, while John 5 rocks a mean solo on stage! They played all the faves that had the crowd on their feet – from “Superbeast” and “Living Dead Girl” to “Dead City Radio” and “Ging Gang Gong De Do Gong De Laga Raga” they had the crowd rocking from start to finish!

Rob Zombie has only a few dates left before they take a break. Rumor has it, Rob will be finishing up his movie, “31” before a new Rob Zombie albums come out. Let’s hope it won’t take too long and we’ll get to watch a creepy ass movie and catch another Zombie show by next Halloween!!! One can at least hope.

Up Next was the Bostonians – Godsmack! As the lights went down, they had a “short film” by Godsmack’s vocalist – Sully Erna playing on the large screen center stage. It was a comedy of two “teenagers” played by Erna (as a teenage girl in a little schoolgirl skirt) and drummer Shannon Larkin

as her teenage male counterpart, who snuck backstage to try to meet their favorite band – Godsmack. When the band’s security found “the kids” – it turning into a Benny Hill spoof. It was entertaining as the seconds counted down to Godsmack to take the stage.

Godsmack’s set was also packed with hits that continued to rock the arena! They kicked off the night with “Whatever” before hitting strong with “1000hp” They would continue on with so many Godsmack fan faves “Straight Out of Line,” Awake, “Keep Awake,” “Generation Day” “Cryin’ Like A Bitch” and they kept the hits kept coming on. Of course the highlight of their set was when Sully and Shannon would go into their “Drum Battle” solos. It’s really an amazing thing to experience. They would close down the night with “Voodoo” before the final song of the night – “I Stand Alone”
