#TBT – 1997 – LIMP BIZKIT & KORN in NY!

This week’s Throwback Thursday (#TBT) takes us back to 1997, backstage at the Mid Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie NY after The “Life is Peachy Tour” (Limp Bizkit, Helmet, Korn). I believe it was the last night of the tour.

Limp Bizkit had just finished recording their debut album, “Three Dollar Bill Y’all” before they hit the road with Korn and the first single, “Counterfeit” was creating a buzz. They were soon to release that first album and you could see it was on the verge of exploding on the scene.

KoRn was out on tour of their second album, “Life is Peachy” – This was one of KoRn’s first headlining arena tours. (They had toured relentlessly with their self titled debut album – including many headlining club tour runs, for roughly 2yrs straight before they jumped into the studio, recorded “Life Is Peachy” and hit the road again all within mere months).

The photo above was taken after the show, I had ran into one of the guys in Limp Bizkit (Sam, I think) and asking them if it would be possible to get a group photo of Limp Bizkit that night. He said sure and brought me back to their dressing room area to see if we could find the other guys. When we walked in, Jonathan and Head were sitting in there, talking with Fred. Long story short, this turned out to be one of my fave and most fun group shots.

It’s been a fun journey to watch both of these bands grow over the years. It’s hard to believe that Korn is gearing up for a 20yr anniversary tour… yet the math adds up. You can find the tour dates and buy your tickets for their current celebration tour at korn.com.
