DANZIG, DEVIL DRIVER, 2 CENTS – Clifton Park NY

2010’s Deth Red Sabaoth Tour

Kicking off the show was the rowdy crew from Los Angeles, 2Cents. They are the type of band that is just about having a good time and it pours over into the audience. How could it not with songs like “Get What?” Whether you were a fan or just discovering the band for the first time, they had the entire crowd engaged with middle fingers and profanity, as these guys really know how to entertain in true rock n roll fashion. I couldn’t help noticed how lead vocalist, Adam  O’Rourke reminded me of a young Mike Patten. 2 Cents is out in support of their latest album, “Dress To Kill”,  Be sure to check out the interview we did the the guys here, where they let us in on a little of what life is on the road, talked a little about the latest album and their new single, “She’s Gone” and how they will be heading back into the studio as soon as the tour is over.

Next to take the stage was Devildriver. Odd to see them as an opening band; they definitely hold their own and have sold out this club time and time again. They delivered a excellent tight performance, playing songs from all their albums. They kicked off their set with “End Of The Line” from The Fury of Our Maker’s Hand album. Continuing on with “Impending Disaster” and “Not All Who Wander Are Lost” before they played their latest single “Dead To Rights” which the video was based from the old Russian Horror film, The Vij. Musician Photo Journal got to sit down with Devildriver’s guitarist, Jeff Kendrick to talk about the the video, their new album, “Beast” and to get the scoop about his new website allaxess.com. You can watch the interview here. Devildriver will be heading down to South America after this tour with another North American tour in the works.

It was time for the headliner of the night, Danzig. Glen Danzig was joined on the stage with an all star line up of Steve Zing (Samhain) on bass, Tommy Victor (Prong) on guitar and Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative) on drums. How could you go wrong with a line-up like that. The sound was amazing and nearly a perfect performance. Not only did they do favorites like “Twist of Cain” and of course “Mother” but they came back for an encore of “She Rides”,  “Tired of Being Alive ” and closing out the entire night with “Long Way Back From Hell”. What an awesome show.

Unfortunately, Danzig banned any photos, press or fan shots (including no cell phones in the audience). So the only way to capture their performance is purely for those in attendance to replay the night in their mind. Danzig is out in support of their ninth studio album “Deth Red Sabaoth” which was released in June 2010. They are set to tour Europe in June and Australia in September and October, so you’ll want to get out to see this legendary performer.
