Volbeat, HellYeah and Iced Earth – Clifton Park, NY

It was a solid night of metal when the mighty Volbeat, HellYeah and Iced Earth pulled into town. With a line-up like that, how could you go wrong?!?

Iced Earth took the stage with powerful metal riffs that fired up the crowd from the get go. They blend an old school metal with power metal, adding in a pinch of thrash. Their set was uplifting and really just a fun band to watch, it’s no wonder why the crowd’s cheers were through the roof!!! With their latest release “Dystopia” (2011) Iced Earth showcased their new singer, Stu Block (former Into Eternity vocalist). They are looking to release a live DVD of their world tour later this summer, including film shot in the ancient Kourion Theater in Limassol, Cyprus.

Hellyeah was next to bring their Cowboy Way to the stage! With the mighty Vinnie Paul behind the drums setting the pace, these guys were out of control great! All you could see was a sea of fist in the air from the stage to the merchant booth in the back of the club as the rocked the place!! They played the favorites as well a few new ones including the heavy hitting “War In Me” and the title track for the new album, “Band of Brothers” that will hit stores on 7/17/2012.

Headlining the night was the one, the only, Volbeat!! These boys from Demark took the show. It won’t be long before they are headlining arenas in North America. From their rendition of Mr. Johnny Cash’s “Sad Man Tongue” to the heavier songs like “16 Dollar’ or “River Queen” the crowd was with them from the moment they stepped on the Stage. The club was hotter than what you would find “Beyond Hell” but no one seemed to care. It was only about that “Above Heaven” feeling that Volbeat invokes. Volbeat released a live DVD last November, “Live From Beyond Hell and Above Heaven.”

3 bands packed with veteran musicians, 3 sets that could of stood on their own, brought together for one amazing night at the newly re-named, Upstage Concert Hall in Clifton Park NY. The tour runs to mid July – make sure to catch what looks to be the greatest rock-n-roll show this summer!
