Sevendust, Saving Abel and Hail The Villain – Clifton Park NY

Review by: Elle Tourjman – Photos By: Nadine Swiger

Hail The Villian, Saving Abel and Sevendust put on one hell of a show at Northern Lights in Clifton Park, New York on May 7th, 2010.

The night started off with local band Selfish Needy Creatures, who seem to have quite a loyal fan base here in upstate New York. While they are, as of yet, unsigned to any label, its plain to see that it is just a matter of time before they get their big break. The band defines themselves as metal/industrial/rock and with their haunting vocals and tight sound they are here to stay. Look them up at myspace.com/selfishneedycreaturesband

Next to take the stage was Hail the Villian. Don’t let their cute, teenage angsty look fool you; this redefining rock group knows how to punch out a sound that you won’t soon forget! Turning up the heat as they rocked their way through their set with a base that might shake you from the inside out, they soon mesmerized the audience with their high energy and unforgettable vocals. They are a charismatic mix of sexy, good ol’ boy style mixed in with rock and metal. Add talent, a dash of (a very metal) Chevelle and viola! Hail The Villian. This is one performance you will not want to

miss. Watch for them because they are stars on the rise. This Canadian band was recently signed with Roadrunner Records and will be releasing their new album “Population Declining” this summer. They are also scheduled to take part in the Uproar Festival Tour (featuring Disturbed and Avenge Sevenfold). I can’t wait to see what kind of an uproar they create for themselves as they take off like a rocket. You can visit their interactive website at hailthevillain.com

Saving Able was greeted by a cheering crowd before they even stepped foot onstage. These popular Mississippi boys from the deep South needed little introduction as they pounded out their set. Their fans sang along with their songs as the band worked the crowd. In true Rockstar form Saving Able played a hard set with loads of energy in their traditional hard alt Southern rock style they are well known for. The band finished up their set with a fan favorite “Addicted.” Their new Album “Miss America” will be out June 8th. Go to http://www.savingable.com

The crowd went wild as Sevendust took the stage. All hands were in the air as screaming fans mouthed the words of their favorite Sevendust lyrics. The band has an undeniable stage presence and along with their tight set and oozing charisma they rocked the house. This band has earned the right to be at the top of the music scence and definately were at the top of their game the night of May 7th. The walls were dripping and the air was misty and hot as Sevendust banged out a melodic heavy metal, harsh and yet strangely beautiful sound, song after song. The fans went wild and their adoration for the band is certainly understandable. If you come to a Sevendust concert unconvinced you can be sure that you will find yourself among the starry-eyed hero- worshipping when you leave. You cannot help but be touched by such an overwhelming performance. Singer Lajon and the rest of the band were in fine form. It seems like every song, every set, each audience at every performance, they give a small part of themselves to their fans, singing and playing out their hearts and souls to their audience. Their live performances are not to be missed! You can catch them at the Rocklahoma Festival and the Carnival of Madness Tours and visit them online at http://www.sevendust.com
